Dr. Amit Acharya, the founding director of the Center for Oral and Systemic Health (formerly known as Institute for Oral and Systemic Health) and currently Chief Dental Informatics Officer for Family Health Center of Marshfield, Inc. (FHC) and dental center at Marshfield Clinic Health System (MCHS), has been named executive director of Marshfield Clinic Research Institute (MCRI).

COSH has the pleasure of hosting two interns this summer. Katelyn Kleutsch who is currently a senior at the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire majoring in biology and Callahan Katrak who is a senior at Rollins College in Winter Park, FL majoring in Chemistry and Biology.

Dr. Neel Shimpi walked across the stage Sunday, May 21st, and accepted her doctoral degree in Biomedical and Healthcare Informatics from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a focus on Healthcare Information Systems.
Dr. Acharya Appointed to Health Level Seven (HL7) Standards Committee as American Dental Association Representative
Dr. Amit Acharya, Director of Center for Oral and Systemic Health was recently appointed by the American Dental Association (ADA) as its representative to the Health Level Seven (HL7) Standards Committee and was involved in international informatics standards development activity at the recent 2017 HL7 International meeting in Madrid, Spain.
COSH Researcher Presents at UW-Madison Seminar Series
Dr. Adham Abdelrahim, a Postdoctoral Fellow with the Center for Oral and Systemic Health, presented an oral presentation entitled, “Feasibility Assessment of a TeleDental Approach to Address Non-traumatic Dental Condition Visits” at the Computation and Informatics in Biology and Medicine seminar series on April 18, 2017.
Access to Dental Records to Improve Patient Care
With the help from MCIS staff, providers at Marshfield Clinic now have access to view patient dental records. Dental documentation and treatment information is now available at their fingertips.
