Dr. Adham Abdelrahim, a Postdoctoral Fellow with the Center for Oral and Systemic Health, presented an oral presentation entitled, “Feasibility Assessment of a TeleDental Approach to Address Non-traumatic Dental Condition Visits” at the Computation and Informatics in Biology and Medicine seminar series on April 18, 2017. The focus of Dr. Abdelrahim’s presentation was to assess the feasibility of establishing a teledental approach to manage non-traumatic dental condition (NTDC) visits to the Emergency Department (ED) within the Marshfield Clinic Health System. Incorporating TeleDental approach could provide regional coverage to several EDs to address NTDC visits, which would result in improved patients outcomes, including: reduced ED waiting time, greater cost saving, address narcotic abuse, improved follow-ups and resolution of the underlying dental problems.

This seminar series, through the University of Wisconsin Madison, is designed to bring students, faculty members, and any other interested parties together; to learn about the current research being conducted in computer science, biostatistics, engineering, biological sciences, and biomedical research problems related to bioinformatics and computational biology.
