Dr. Neel Shimpi walked across the stage Sunday, May 21st, and accepted her doctoral degree in Biomedical and Healthcare Informatics from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a focus on Healthcare Information Systems. Her focus of her Ph.D. dissertation was evaluation and development of a clinical decision support tool based on artificial intelligence. Dr. Shimpi has a bachelor’s degree in Dental Surgery from India and a master’s degree in Healthcare Management with a major in healthcare informatics from Cambridge College of Management in Massachusetts. She also has diplomas in clinical research and hospital administration. Dr. Shimpi’s research interest lies in medical and dental informatics, artificial intelligence, oral and systemic health connections, developing clinical decision support tools, provider and patient education and electronic health records.
